Episode 6: The Carribou in the Room

Show Recap:

Marin explores the age-old question: can a man and woman who slept together be friends?  She is having a hard time pinning Jack down to hang out, but manages to accompany him to Anchorage for a trip.  Meanwhile, Annie is afraid to tell Patrick why she never haves him sleep over… because she snores.  Really loud.

Lasly, Ben comes to a conclusion about Theresa- it’s time to go their separate ways.  He asks her to move out while at the same time working on his newish relationship with Sara.

Jack has an asthma attack in Anchorage, and things get quite interesting.  Especially when his brother shows up and starts hitting on Marin again…

Show Review:

I loved loved loved this episode… Marin and Jack are going through a situation that so many people go through, and I’m willing to bet that a ton of people could identify with this episode.  Jack obviously cares about Marin since he punched his brother out over his comment over Marin being a “hot piece of A**”.  I cannot wait to see what the show has in store for these two.

Meanwhile, Annie and Patrick are the cutest couple ever… although Patrick really comes across as being totally clueless.

Lastly, the whole Ben and Sara relationship thing ought to be interesting… especially considering Sara’s line of work!

This series is shaping up to be very interesting.  I am eager for the next episode- what did you guys think?  Tell me in the comments!

Episode 5: Talk For Tat

Warning: this recap contains a few spoilers!

*Episode 5, Talk for Tat, aired on Friday, October 6th at 9pm on ABC.

Recap:

This episode was very steamy… everyone was thinking and talking about sex.

First and foremost, Marin catches sight of Jack in a toolbelt and fall instantly in lust. Jack happens to turn around and catch her eating him up with her eyes… and it’s clear he is feeling the same. After several close calls and tons of build up, they finally do the deed. But as often happens, they are left feeling a bit out of sorts after the event. Jack takes off to do a little solo fishing, leaving Marin freaking out… and determined to track him down to “talk”.

Meanwhile, Annie is wondering why Patrick hasn’t made a move on her yet. Patrick reveals that he is a virgin, and Annie resolves to make Patrick’s first time absolutely wonderful. Will she come on too strong and scare him off?

Last but not least, Ben is wondering if he is good in bed. A trip to Sara’s house and a romp in the hay only complicates things when he tries to pay Sara. Will Ben and Sara admit that they still have feelings for each other?

Review:

This was not only a hilarious episode which had me and my friends laughing out loud more than once, but it did a great job of further complicating the many story lines of the show. There was a condom incident with the poor innocent and shy Patrick… and the whole Jack and Marin buildup which caused a LOT of suspense throughout the episode.

In my opinion, this was the best episode so far and left a lot up in the air. I can honestly say that I am now hooked on this show!

What did you guys think?

Episode 2: Power Shift

Recap:

This episode has a few surprises. Marin struggles to adopt to her new single status and decides to take the advice of some of the town’s men on how to get over her fiance that ends in embarrassment. Meanwhile, her ex-fiance makes an ill-timed appearance in Marin’s new world, as does Marin’s editor who wants to make sure that Marin is OK. Marin discovers that not everything is peachy perfect in Alaska… finally, a raccoon who has been following her around suddenly ditches her.

Last but not least, Marin helps out the local radio station by giving advice on relationships and men.

Review:

I think this episode was brilliant. It did a great job of being true to life. For instance, just when Marin thinks everything is great in her new life, a few monkey wrenches are thrown her way. Several new characters and story lines were introduced, all of which sound promising.

Recap

Relationship coach and man expert Marin Frist gets on a plane to Elmo, AK to give a motivational speech on men. She discovers en route that her fiance has been cheating on her. Marin declares that the wedding is off, leaving her poor editor to take care of canceling the wedding arrangements.

While in Elmo, Marin meets one devoted fan who came all the way to Alaska to see her. She also meets many of the town’s men and a raccoon who keeps following her around. Stuck in Elmo, Marin decides to make the most of it.

Review

This series looks very promising! What can be more exciting than one single woman alone in Alaska with tons of men?

Anne Heche seems to be an interesting choice for the role. She is the typical ultra-thin, chic city girl who has been spurned by men. What better place to settle down than Alaska, which is teeming with men and possibilities?

This episode did a great job of laying out the series storyline and left me wondering who - if any - of the Alaskan men Marin would end up with.
